1st Z13 UK Rally

I think it should have been the drink till you drop rally, so just to get in the mood to tell you all about our first gathering I'm sat sipping a can of Caffery's. We had an enjoyable blast down the motorway, then a good old tour of the countryside around Santa Pod, past Santa Pod, around Santa Pod and past Santa Pod as I a lot of you guy's did too.

We pulled into the Pod wondering if anyone else would join us, but as we entered the camping field we spotted not one but two 13's. One a standard and one a trike. I got off the bike as Andy launched his Khyam quick erect tent  into the next field. We exchanged greeting, I cracked open the obligatory can of Caffery's (The first of many). Sandra and I put our normal tent up, and unpacked. By this time the said tent had been retrieved and re-launched into a bush. I've got to say it but I'm sure that's not what Khyam had in mind for their tents. Please visit http://www.khyam.co.uk/ to see how to erect one.

Hey, I'm now wondering just what have I let myself in for. The guy's Andy and Andy got it sorted as another 13 pulled in, phew things where now looking good four 13's already. Our new arrival was Dave who came down and joined the club on site.

We watched some drag racing (Look at Dreads biker site of a review of the racing) then nipped out to buy some beer because it was £5 of two cans at the bar. After getting lost several times we hit the beer tent and the party started...

It all gets a bit hazy towards the end but I know at some point Andy cut himself and bled all over the floor so in a bid to cloane him we added fags and beer, needless to say it didn't work but you know what it's like when your out of your face.

The night went well the DJ played loads of good music we all played the best air guitar in the world. And sadly we ran out of steam or some of us did...

Sunday brought a hangover and some very loud racing, it wasn't this loud yesterday. By mid day a few more of you had arrived and it was time to line the bikes up.

I think you'll all agree it's a truly awesome site so many 13's in one place at one time. I bet it's been years since this has happened.

We then started the judging everyone was to vote for the two catagories and select a best of show from one of the two.

It was a close competition and the standard was very high but the results fell as follows:-

Dave won best standard 13. His is the green one on the end of the row.

And Phil won best non standard and best of show his is the one with a ZZR front end grafted onto it.

The day ended with us watching some more drag racing then a parade to the motorway which was a truly amazing sight. I kept looking in my mirrors in awe of the line of Z1300's that followed. Wow.

Anyone who couldn't make it, I hope I've captured some of the spirit of the meet and I hope that at future meets we'll be able to put new faces to names. The whole weekend was a no attitude, fun filled, momentous occasion and I thank everyone for supporting the club and hope to see you all soon.
