Brothers Over The Hill

Kind hard to work out how to start this report...hmmm... Every now and then you stumble across a little piece of treasure. No too clique. I don't know. This was a damned good rally, held by a fine bunch of people who looked after everyone and made sure the whole weekend went swimmingly well. The Brothers Over The Hill MCC throw a damned good party. If you ain't been to one then I 'd recommend that you drop in next year we will.
This was the first rally in the Z1300 OC's calendar and it was a great way to start the rally season. As already mentioned the hosts where great, but the site and the entertainment was excellent to. The event was a real family event, there was a selection of children's activities:- a bouncy castle and pole where two kids sat and battered hell out of each other with foam poles until one fell off. (Sounds worse than it was.)
I have to admit we where a little disappointed in the club turnout, I always expect 140 Z1300's to come roaring down the road and join us. Not to be for this one hey maybe one day. 9 guy's and 3 13's was the turn out for this the first rally of our 25th anniversary year. But saying the turnout was a little low we all had a damn good time... Especially Mark, more to come on this subject later.
I've got to say a massive thanks to Kip for lending me his pride and joy, my 13 is not finished and I didn't want to have to turn up a GSXR1000 so he lent me 13. Thanks Kip. And just look at the crowds his 13 pulled.
When we arrived two guy's where already here, they'd set up camp (well nearly) and gone to the bar. As you do. Below is a picture of there tent?
I'm a little gob smacked at the state of the tent coz one of them had one of the best 13's I've every seen. (Dave, Phil and Pete a new contender for the title has walked into the arena!) Thank god my 13 wasn't ready!
Meet HAMMERSTEIN:-
Good job for Mark the judging was on bikes and not tent's coz he went on to win "Best Bike" of the weekend. This absolutely made Marks weekend as Hammerstein had been written of a number of years ago and this is the second incarnation of the machine and it's first rally. Below Mark receives his trophy.
During the weekend Ian and one of his pal's dropped in from Barnsley, The 13 below is Ian's and the Max is his buddies.
The entertainment was excellent, Friday saw a damned good cover band, can't remember there name but they where really good, Saturday saw a Glam rock band who where okay but it id seem to go on and on and on. I guess Seventies glam rock ain't my thing but they went down well. But I didn't care that much as I was very numbed by the excesses of Cafferies that I'd consumed. A couple of guy's and gal's hard a bit too much to drink though...
Nice shirts!
Just checking what time to up camp and head home so as to not miss the eastenders omnibus!
Above is the Z1300 camp, we get posher every rally!
The quality of bikes at this rally reflects the success of previous years, below are some of the ones I liked and some I thought you guy's would like.
Below is Hammerstein packed up and ready to go, note the trophy gets pride of place...The tent went in the bin! LOL.
If you have ever wondered about going to this rally and haven't I can't recommend it enough. It's laid back and fun, it's small enough to be personal but big enough to rock.
A massive thanks to the Brother Over the Hill MCC see ya next year.
