ROCK AND BLUES 2003
![]()
The Location: - Pentrich Showground, Pentrich, Nr Ripley, Derbyshire.
The Organisers: - Outlaws MC Derbyshire Chapter.
This was in my humble opinion (and who gives a rats ass what I think) the best Rock and Blues I can remember. The weather tried in vein to dampen our spirits, (like the pun) but nothing could have ruined the mega event the Outlaws laid on. It was after all the 20 birthday party of the Rock and Blues.
The mud and rain...I've never seen so many bikes and people when it comes to that, fall over in the mud. On the way in I abandoned my 13, had a beer or two then went back for it. It slid all over and sprayed mud everywhere sorry to anyone who was a victim of my back wheel.
The show bikes where fantastic, the standard gets better and better every year. I can only guess at how much some of these machines must cost. It must be around £30k if not more, dream dream dream one day maybe my lottery numbers will come up. Here are the entrants that I liked.
Just check the seat on this baby...yeeowww!
I thought the paint job on this machine was special, my photo's don't give it justice. The green was very metallic and the quality was great.
This next bike was to me best of show, it's called the Predator. The creator was full of trick ideas. Look at the frame and the carb mouth. The wheels haven't got spokes but glass.
The rest of the show bikes.
The trike and the drag bike are not what they seem, they are tiny. Made by proud fathers for their young sons. I wish I'd have been so lucky.
I always like to have a small section for the nutters and characters I see at an event.
Whilst I love the show bikes I do prefer the real, no reals the wrong word coz they are all real. But the bike that are attainable by Joe public. The bikes that cost £2-£5k, the everyday ridden bikes. So here a selection of the fine bikes I found parked in the muddy fields surrounding the show arena.
The show winners.
Of course I have to give a special mention to all the 13's I found at the show. And a hello to all the owners who sat and chewed the fat with me about the best damned bike ever built.
This is how not to improve your bike, just look at the grips on this bike.
The bands where excellent, Thin Lizzy where mega, after two songs you forgot about the fact he didn't sound like Phil Lynott and just enjoyed a fantastic set. The Stranglers where very good as where Stiff little fingers and the Climax Blues Band. I wasn't too impressed with Molly Hatchet, or should I say the front man of Molly Hatchet, he talked Bollox and should have been made to shut his gob and just sing.
To the Outlaws MC thank you for the best big bash I've been to, you guy's throw a damned good party, bet you have trouble topping this one.
