The Location: - Pentrich Showground, Pentrich, Nr Ripley, Derbyshire.
The Organisers: - Outlaws MC Derbyshire Chapter.
Rock and Blues 2005 was great, it rained all week leading up to the show but still thousands rolled up to be entertained. We arrive Friday dinner, it wasn't raining but we knew it would be bad at the site. It was! The Outlaws had but gravel down on the first slope into the site but then you where on your own. I took it steady and managed to plough the 13 though the site with no mishap's. (Thanks to the guy's who gave me shove when I had to stop on the hill!)
Nice (Not!)
The picture above is a familiar site to regular rally goers, however Rock and Blues normally falls when the weather is great. Firstly I tell you about the bands wow what a great line up they had this year. Friday night had Sour patrol, Tygers of Pan tang, Waysted, Frank Marino and then Blackfoot. Have to admit to missing the first two which was a shame as Tygers are a band from my youth so I was a bit disappointed but we saw the rest. Hmm not quite, didn't like Frank Marino (Sorry Frank) so we drank some beer and looked around then drank some more beer. But Waysted where bloody great and we drank some beer while they played. We got a curry just before Blaclfoot came on and jeeeze it was hot but hey I just had to drink more cafferies. (Took 3 cans to cool the curry down) Blackfoot where truly amazing what a tight and professional outfit who new how to Rock. The more astute of you will note I didn't mention the advertised Skinny Molly anywhere because they didn't show. their loss coz we where a great crowd to play too.
Saturday saw Soar Patrol (Again and we missed them again. Sorry boys.) Rise to addiction (Missed them too) Antiproduct (Whoops missed them as well) The Damned now we saw them and I sat through the whole set coz they are my best mates favourite band but got to say not my cup of tea. But hey I don't drink tea. Thunder where okay and then followed they Australian Pink Floyd who where very professional but again not my scene but they where loved but thousands and thousands of others but by then we'd had too many beers and frankly didn't give a toss anyway.
There was the usual fairground rides and bungee etc etc as these wonderfully arty pictures show. (Thanks to my beautiful assistant Sandra)
Talking of Sandra she reckons the two pictures above typify rallies.
No for my favourite bit... your bikes.
The motley crew below are just a few candid pictures of you guy's having fun at possibly the best rally of the year.
The show bikes...Unfortunately the weather was so bad the prize giving didn't happen so I don't know who came where.
No Rock and Blues would be complete without me hanging my nose over Pyromania. Here it is the only bike I'd sell my 13 to buy.
Talking of 13's here they all are....
The shot below was my attempt at sports photography cool or what?
To round up the rally...It was wet, the bands where a great selection covering many tastes the rally goers where all out for a good time and the Outlaws looked after us well. Cheers guy's thanks for a great do.
