Well we missed round 3, can't remember why but our hero Rush and the "Whip" didn't get there either? Van broke down is what I heard. X-Terminator ran away with Top Fuel Supertwins  in his absence.

Round 4, the big three day event, the weather was pretty kind to us. Friday we arrived, racing had started. Cheek! you'd think they would have waited. Our dilemma was do we put the hotel (Tent) up or do we rush on down and watch the racing ? The latter won, well nearly ? I still had to down a can of beer for the 13's side stand. What the hell we where in the car this time but who cares?

I have to mention a couple of cars, as anyone who follows this site may know my favourite car is the Corvette and these two had a show down...

158 in a quarter mile is outstanding. I want a Corvette to go to work in. Mind you the two top fuelers below make them look pedestrian. 252mph.

The whole meet was one of the biggest I've seen in the Super series, as you can see from the pictures above there was a big car presence. The VW beetle had quite a few representatives. I don't recall any I've ever blown at lights launching quite this fast. I remember may moons ago restoring a Beetle for a guy, we "Cal" looked it for him. But at the end of the day he'd got a hot rod that a 2cv could out run? Perhaps one day I'll do a page it.

Cannon was not having a good time, he's pictured above wheeling from the line. Which considering his wheelie bars and the fact he challenges gravity himself is quite a feat. He can run quick as we know but not this weekend?

Many of my mates have told me of the bike above. Boss Hoss! It is even wider than my 13. Look how it dwarf's the drag star at the side of it. I don't know who's bike it was but they must be big time bow legged.

Rush, what about Rush? He's had a new clutch. Or should I say the "Whiplash has had a new clutch. Perhaps that's he problem should Rush have a new clutch? Round 4 could be the turning point for his luck. 3 round's three lots of engine trouble. (Even if one was the van).

First run, it changed gear, but not quite when it should. The motor was strong and nothing broke. Forgive me for my pessimism. Second time out after playing with the clutch and much talk in the pit's of how to adjust the new centrifugal clutch. No burn out, just straight to the line and roar it was off...........Nothing broke but it was slower than the first time. However being the optimist he is Rush was confident  after all the motor was strong and put a lot of power out... Next run he shut of mid track and the opened it up again. Somewhere in the Top fuel riders hand book it should say don't shut down and then open up coz things might break. It broke! Again! The waste gates on the supercharger should have blown. They didn't thus something had to give. The super charger is no more. Rush still insists the motor is sorted and strong with loads more to come however we won't see the "Whip" run again this season. But watch out next year.

George Laycot with the Norton running a Cannon gearbox won the top fuel final beating John Williams. X-terminator had a miss fire and was knocked out by George earlier in the event. X-terminator is running away with the top fuel category.
