Yamaha Rd430

This bike was the dogs whatsits.
The engine was tuned by Stan Stevens.
It was an out and out thrash machine.
The frame was a bastardized RD350LC. The handling was much improved from the flexy 400 frame. The forks off a 350LC as well giving even better handling. This all meant it had LC brakes as well.
The pipes where all-speeds, the red line high and not a lot could keep up. I had this bike for nearly two years. It only blew up once (at 115 as I Knocked it into top). I learned a valuable lesson: - you only ever use the spring clips that hold the gudion pins into the pistons once. One was thrown out and the engine stopped dead, every thing locked I skidded 100-150 yards before I got the clutch in. My life didn't follow the age old cliché, I didn't panic, I just pulled the clutch in and thanked god every thing was cool.
